The Florida Highway Patrol wants you to know that distracted driving is serious business. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 30% of collisions involve cell phone use, causing a distracted driving accident every 24 seconds, over 40,000 injuries and 3,000 deaths a year!
That means habits like checking Facebook messages, uploading snapchat stories and texting while driving are very dangerous to perform while driving. With this dangerous driving behaviors like that, it’s only a matter of time before an potentially fatal or life changing distracted driving accident occurs.
Recently, the Florida Highway Patrol has made steps towards bringing those statistics down and making the roads a safer place.
